Skylight Atrium & Discovery Gallery
First impressions are everything. Prepare to be amazed.
The Skylight Atrium sets the stage for a dramatic experience as visitors walk through the doors into the new Delaware Museum of Nature and Science.
This bright central space will captivate guests with bold visual interpretations of the Tree of Life, depicting the evolution of organisms over billions of years and the relationships between them in increasingly diverse branches. Moveable exhibit cases explore evolution and natural selection concepts including Variation, Inheritance, Selection, Time and Adaptation.
A captivating first impression, the Skylight Atrium also provides the starting point for a system of distinctive, easy-to-follow wayfinding navigation throughout the rest of the Museum.
Adjacent to the Atrium, the Discovery Gallery’s retractable walls and reconfigurable furniture encourage multiple modes of operation, while fixed display cases provide locations for permanent and temporary exhibits, providing a welcoming atmosphere with experiential opportunities to explore concepts introduced throughout the Museum. This flexible space can rotate awe-inspiring displays, highlight temporary exhibits with community partners, and host special events.
